How to find peace of mind doing "The Work"

We all have moments where judgments or complaints quietly fill our minds.

This post invites you to try a simple but powerful practice:

Just “notice” those thoughts.

Without judgment or guilt, pay attention to what comes up, and then write it down.

Putting these thoughts on paper helps clear your mind and creates space for clarity.

What you write will also prepare you for the next step, which is coming soon with the new method I’m going to show you now.

Grab a pen, take a deep breath, and let’s begin!

Have you ever found yourself thinking negative thoughts that stress you out?

Maybe you keep worrying about something or thinking about a problem over and over again.

What if you could stop those thoughts and feel more at peace, no matter what’s happening around you?

That’s what Byron Katie’s “The Work” is all about. It’s a simple process that helps you challenge the thoughts that cause stress and suffering. By using four simple questions, you can change how you feel and start to feel more calm and clear.

Who is Byron Katie?

Byron Katie is a woman who created “The Work” after having a personal breakthrough.

She used to struggle with depression and anger, but after a deep inner shift, she came up with a way to help others do the same.

Today, she helps people around the world find peace by questioning their stressful thoughts.

The 4 questions to do "The Work"

At the core of “The Work” are four questions that help you challenge the thoughts that cause stress:

  1. Is it true?

    • First, ask yourself if the thought you’re having is really true.
    • Sometimes, we believe things without questioning them, but this question helps you slow down and think.
  2. Can you absolutely know that it’s true?

    • This question takes it further. Can you know 100% that the thought is true?
    • It helps you open up to doubt and look at things from a different angle.
  3. How do you react when you believe that thought?

    • Now, think about how the thought makes you feel.
    • How does it affect your emotions and actions? This helps you see how much the thought is controlling you.
  4. Who would you be without that thought?

    • Imagine how you would feel if you didn’t have that thought. What would change in your life if you could let it go?

Changing the way you see things

After you go through the four questions, the next step is to “turn around” the thought.

This means changing it to the opposite or applying it to yourself.

For example, if you’re thinking “He doesn’t respect me,” you can turn it around to “I don’t respect me” or “I don’t respect him”

This can help you see things in a new light and find a more peaceful perspective.
